THE SOLUTION FOR COMPLETE UTILITY LOCATES

Challenges In Locating All Site Utilities

Most often, underground utilities are recorded during the production of ALTA surveys. However, as we all know, the information most pertinent to safely execute the project for these wind farms are not included in the surveys. One thing that everyone has to contest with, on any project, are unknown, unmarked, or unidentified underground utilities. Any of which have the potential to delay the project, cause damage within the community, and create potential injury to your personnel.

1. Working With Owners / Developers To Vet Turbine Site Locations

Site selection is an important part of the development process. It can be costly and time-consuming to learn late in the process that a turbine site is not viable. Working with a skilled locator can save time and money while providing peace of mind.

2. Working With Developers / Surveyors To Complete ALTA Surveys

Developers and construction teams rely on accurate ALTA surveys to complete their tasks in a safe and timely manner. Working with skilled locators earlier in the process ensures greater accuracy in the production of ALTA surveys that all contractors can rely on for efficient execution of their scopes.

3. Verifying Utility Locations For Crossing Agreements

Procuring crossing agreements with landowners can be a complicated and time-consuming process. There are many challenges in compiling the information needed to secure crossing agreements, such as incomplete public records, poor recollection of landowners, and lost information after properties change hands. A skilled locator can help solve most mysteries surrounding the existence of known and unknown utilities on public and private property.

4. Helping Identify Known And Unknown Utilities During Excavation

After surveyors have staked the center line for the collection lines and access roads, excavation and boring teams prepare for their ground disturbance work. It may go unspoken, but those operators are always concerned with unmarked or unknown utilities in the ground. Skilled locators can help relieve those concerns by providing an extra layer of diligence.

GPRS IS ABLE TO PROVIDE SOLUTIONS FOR THE ENTIRE LIFE CYCLE OF YOUR WIND POWER PROJECTS.

PLANNING & DESIGN PHASE

More than ever, the Renewable Energy industry needs information on underground utilities, known and unknown, before plans, development and ALTA Surveys can be finalized. GPRS utility locating and mapping services supplement existing maps to provide a more complete picture of existing underground assets, saving time, and money.

CONSTRUCTION PHASE

Prior to trenching, directional drilling, and other excavation and renovation of Wind Power Infrastructure, it’s critical to pinpoint underground assets so that a plan can be developed for safe crossing. Whether locating pipeline crossings, crane walks, mapping wind farms, performing one-call services, or verifying as-built conditions, GPRS will provide the accurate information needed to complete the project safely.

O & M PHASE

Once the project is finished, the risk for utility and underground infrastructure damage does not go away. Wind Farms need ongoing maintenance and upgrades that will once again result in excavations in the subsurface. GPRS is well equipped to perform one-call locates for these assets on public and private property.
