3D Laser Scanning To Expedite The Installation Of ACM Panels

The client was able to fabricate components offsite and plan a flawless installation based on our existing condition data and 3D model. Plus, GPRS' work was conducted entirely at night, mitigating any disruption to construction
Field verification to prefabricate ACM panels
Our client was installing ACM panels to the canopy of a newly constructed airport terminal. The construction plans did not match the existing conditions at the site. A deviation could cause a major issue. The installation process needed to be precisely planned to avoid rework.
The construction plans did not match the existing conditions at the site. The installation process needed to be precisely planned to avoid rework • The shape of the canopy was complicated and stood 65 feet in the air. The client needed field verification and a plan to expedite proper installation of the panels • Installers were working overhead in a lift; there was no room for trial and error Solution • The Project Manager conducted a site walk to devise a plan for the client • The canopy and curtain wall of the airport terminal were 3D laser scanned to capture precise as-built data and generate a 3D model and 2D drawings to facilitate ACM panel installation • 22" x 34" 2D CAD drawings were created with the panel layout for the client to take to the field. This allowed each panel to be labeled with a custom number, cut and shim points Benefits • Laser scanning obtained exact measurements for the client and took away any guesswork from this project • To circumvent the active construction site, the Project Manager scanned the site at night to eliminate movement and trades working • The client was able to fabricate components offsite and plan a flawless installation

3D Laser Scanning a Historic Church for Restoration

To complete the restoration of the church, the client required accurate 2D CAD drawings with precise measurements of the structural and architectural elements.
Our client needed accurate as built documentation to complete a $1.2 million restoration and improvement project for a historic church. The 1875-built church in Glandorf, Ohio was the largest Roman Catholic church built at the time. Built in Neo-Gothic style, it contained a 225-foot spire, beautiful statues imported from Austria and stained-glass windows imported from Germany. In 2017, the church underwent a 3-month historic restoration and improvement project. The project involved preventive measures including fiber-glassing the interior walls, painting and installing updated storm windows to protect the stained glass. In addition, damaged sections of the archway and niches were repaired, and a ceiling was lowered in the vestibule to highlight a stained-glass window.
GPRS’ client needed accurate as-built documentation to complete a $1.2 million restoration and improvement project for a historic church.
Our client provides historic restoration services and is dedicated to providing excellence in conservation and restoration. To complete the restoration of the church, the client required accurate CAD drawings with precise measurements of the structural and architectural elements. With a Leica P40 laser scanner, GPRS quickly captured the structural and architectural details of the church’s interior with92 laser scans. 3D laser scanning captured full spatial and color data with high detail and precision. Laser scanning can capture extreme detail for even the most intricate buildings easily. 3D laser scanning delivered a valuable data set to the client. Intensity map point cloud files provided digital visualization. 2D CAD drawings were created from accurate scan data. From skyscrapers to sewer lines, GPRS Intelligently Visualizes The Built World® to keep your projects on time, on budget, and safe.

Pharmaceutical Upgrades Completed With the Help of Laser Scanning

The use of laser scan technology has resulted in accurate and efficient data collection, precise as-built documentation, cost savings due to improved design accuracy, and improved project visualization and collaboration.
A pharmaceutical company was installing some new equipment in various areas of the facility. Existing machinery was being removed, new machinery was being installed and MEP piping was being re-routed throughout the area. GPRS provided laser scanning services to collect point cloud data on four levels and generate a 3D model for the client. Before starting renovations of this existing facility, the client desired to document existing conditions to plan layout and process flow upgrades.
The use of laser scan technology has resulted in accurate and efficient data collection, true as built documentation, cost savings due to improved design accuracy, and improved project visualization and collaboration.
Location: Social Circle, GA Project Manager Insight: “The cost of laser scanning and modeling should easily be offset by the cost savings from reduced re-work during the facility renovations.” Andy Foshee, TruePoint Southeast Regional Manager. Task: A pharmaceutical company was installing some new equipment in various areas of the facility. Existing machinery was being removed, new machinery was being installed and MEP piping was being re-routed throughout the area. TruePoint provided laser scanning services to collect point cloud data on four levels and generate a 3D model for the client. Before starting renovations of this existing facility, the client desired to document existing conditions and plan layout and process flow upgrades. Challenge: Upgrading existing pharmaceutical manufacturing sites can be challenging. The space available is restricted and bringing in new equipment is sometimes tricky. Our client needed to make several tie-ins and requested a Revit model for planning. Solution: Using the Leica P50 ScanStation, TruePoint captured structural features, MEP piping and equipment ½ inch and above. An LOD 300 Revit model was requested to ensure more accurate, efficient and cost-effective execution of the project. With planning, the client was able to install the new machinery and re-route piping without any field rework. This also resulted in reduced downtime and significant savings by returning the facility to production quickly. Deliverable: TruePoint delivered a point cloud .rcp file, JetStream Viewer file and an LOD 300 Revit model to the client. TruePoint's team of CAD technicians modeled the following details for the client: Pipe - 72,000 linear feet Conduit - 75,000 linear feet Duct - 11,000 linear feet Pipe modeled down to 1/2 inch in diameter. Added Value: The use of laser scan technology has resulted in accurate and efficient data collection, true as built documentation, cost savings due to improved design accuracy, and improved project visualization and collaboration.
