GPRS offers lateral launch inspection services as a non-destructive testing method (NDT) of viewing and collecting data from pipeline interiors.
Our Project Managers use the ROVVER X SAT II Lateral Launch Camera to inspect laterals, which are the pipes that carry wastewater from your home or business to the public sanitary sewer main. With these systems, we can inspect the laterals from the mainline, identifying any damages or defects, including cross bores, so you can address them before they can compromise your services.
About the ROVVER X SAT II
The ROVVER X SAT II has a maximum crawl distance of 984’, and a maximum crawl speed of 98 feet per minute (FPM). Its multiple onboard cameras and sensors feed into a control interface that allows our elite Project Managers to locate cross bores, illicit flows, construction defects, and other issues that could compromise the integrity of the system.
1. Sewer Laterals - Inspection, Locating, Mapping
GPRS has the capability to video the interior of a sewer pipe for lateral inspections, including interior pipe condition and locating the laterals at the surface.
2. Lateral Depth Verification
GPRS uses a suite of technologies that complement the Video Pipe Inspection sewer lateral launch cameras. GPRS is contracted by excavating and boring companies to verify depths of pipes prior to the construction process. The pipe camera includes a sonde that allows locating at the surface that will give us approximate depths and location. Ground penetrating radar (GPR) is then used to more accurately pinpoint depths and locations.
3. Pre & Post Lateral Installation Inspections
It is common practice in the construction world to inspect lateral pipes that have been newly constructed to verify correct installation. Often, shallow drain lines, sewers, or any plastic pipes can be crushed due to the heavy equipment traffic during construction. GPRS utilizes the crawler camera service to inspect the condition of these pipes post construction.
4. Cross Bore Inspections
GPRS has experience in pre and post cross bore pipe inspections across the U.S. using lateral launch camera services. More and more states have adopted this practice and the lateral launch camera can be a great method for video inspection before and after the boring process.
All GPRS Project Managers are NASSCO (National Association of Sewer Service Companies) certified in VPI, lateral sewer, and manhole inspections. GPRS offers NASSCO-certified pipe inspections for pipes 6” and greater for the crawler camera services.
Our NASSCO reports offer interactive insight into defects found, photographs, and video of each pipe segment inspected. They include screen shots of the interior condition of the pipe segments that we inspect, and a video file of the complete inspection for further evaluation, documentation, or reference. Any defects found are ranked by severity, so you know what to address first.
