PROJECT APPLICATION
ASK
Task
Investigate the conditions of underground sewer lines for a regularly scheduled routine inspection
PROBLEM
- An energy company in New York needed qualified experts to conduct the site’s underground pipe inspection
- They had previously hired another firm whose technology and processes could not accommodate requirements
- The site had experienced some flooding in the past. Any progression of that flooding would put workers, their equipment, and the community at risk
Solution
- GPRS Project Managers deployed a remote-controlled sewer inspection crawler and push-fed sewer scope to investigate and document the interior conditions of the underground pipes
- A NASSCO-compliant WinCan report, with every defect ranked by severity per PACP guidelines and identified with photo and video evidence, was created once the investigation was completed
- GPRS located multiple blockages, including an over 20-pound sandbag that was causing three interconnected pipes to be severely backed up with water
- The Project Manager uploaded all the data and videos to the SiteMap Sewer Layer, a new feature that securely stores VPI reports and videos
Benefits
- The client was able to send the detailed reports to the Department of Environmental Conservation ahead of schedule
- GPRS’ state-of-the-art VPI equipment was able to investigate the site, regardless of any obstructions and the water that filled the pipes
- With the results at their fingertips in the SiteMap Sewer Layer, the client can safely address the blockages and efficiently plan future maintenance
