Task

Scan airport taxiways for any underground utilities in preparation for 128 planned soil borings.

PROBLEM

  • The client needed to perform 128 soil borings to check if the area has polluted, so they need to know if there are any underground utilities along their planned drilling path
  • The general contractor hired by the airport needed to perform 128 soil borings beneath the taxiways for an Environmental Site Assessment (ESA)
  • The general contractor needed to verify that no soil borings would strike utilities running beneath the airport

Solution

  • GPRS mapped all utilities within a 10’x10’ radius for every planned bore location
  • All utilities were marked out with spray paint and flags, the RTK location data was uploaded to SiteMap® for digital delivery

Benefits

  • All scans were completed ahead of schedule without interfering with airport operations
  • GPRS’ findings allowed the client to conduct its investigation without the risk of striking a buried utility line
  • All GPRS-captured data was secured and delivered via SiteMap® to provide the client with a record of their existing private and public utilities on site
