Video Pipe Inspection (CCTV) is a service used to inspect underground water sewer and lateral pipelines, VPI is a great tool for investigating cross-bores, structural faults and damages, and lateral line inspection.
With new build construction and renovation project, the likelihood of needing to cut or core concrete is high. There is an inherent risk of striking rebar, conduits, and post tension cables during the cutting or coring process. If a strict occurs, repair costs begin to add up, delays creep into your schedule and it creates a safety hazard for your employees.
The goal of the GPRS Deliverables Department is to deliver clear and understandable findings with each of our outputs from field markings to field sketches, KMZ files, or CAD drawings that provide 2D site plans or even 3D CAD models. In addition, upon the completion of every project, our customers receive a job summary that includes job scope information, site photos, description of site conditions, equipment used, and notes from the project.

GPRS locates utilities, scans concrete and provides video pipe inspections throughout New York City and the state of New York. We use cable avoidance tools to assist in locating buried electrical, water, gas, communication, sewer and storm drain lines in underground facilities. GPRS focuses on damage prevention and reducing the risk of injury to personnel and damage to utilities.
Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of New York were called to locate conduits at the Rockefeller Plaza before saw cutting the concrete. The client was cutting the concrete to put in an additional stairwell for a future restaurant. Bryan Vickers of GPRS was able to locate the conduits within the concrete slab within the requested areas. The contractor was very pleased because we were able to perform the “x-ray” within adequate time and save him the hassle of hitting any electrical and slowing down his project.
On historical Ellis Island, a major general contractor in the Manhattan area contacted GPRS to conduct ground penetrating radar scans of portions of the island to locate any possible utilities within the area they are restoring. Our client was concerned about encountering shallow utilities while they are performing upgrades. GPRS was able to perform the scans in a timely manner, detect multiple utilities within the work area and mark the surface in colored marking paint and flags to allow the contractors to work safely. GPRS also utilized a handheld GPS unit to create a CAD map to document our findings for future use.
A customer was not sure at what point the storm pipes made a turn and need help locating it. The customer hired our CCTV inspection services department to use the robotic crawler camera system to determine where the turn was. The NASCCO certified project manager was able to access the pipe and determine at what linear footage there was a turn. Also, the manager located an additional lateral that the customer was unaware of. The CCTV inspection services project manager located a lateral at the same location that the pipe made a turn at. The CCTV inspection services project manager was able to capture high quality video footage of the location as well as photos for the customer.
