While saw cutting at a project in the basement of The Paris Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, a contractor mistakenly cut through the main power line for the building. As a result of this, the building had a power outage for roughly 20 hours, the hotel had to be closed, and the hotel had to relocate their guests to a different property. Not only did this ordeal cost the hotel a significant amount of money in lost profits, this power outage also forced them to relocate all of the guests from the hotel, and pay for replacement housing.
Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS) was called recently to scan a portion of the property at a power facility in the Las Vegas, Nevada area. Some new equipment was going to be installed and trenches needed to be dug. The general contractor made the wise decision to have utility locating done prior to digging. GPRS was able to locate the utilities in the area where the digging was planned to occur.
A customer was not sure at what point the storm pipes made a turn and need help locating it. The customer hired our CCTV inspection services department to use the robotic crawler camera system to determine where the turn was. The NASCCO certified project manager was able to access the pipe and determine at what linear footage there was a turn.
