Task
Locate and map all buried utilities across the 174-acre Mansfield University Campus of Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania to assist with ongoing repairs to underground steam lines.
PROBLEM
- The university’s buried steam lines required extensive repairs, and the school needed to conduct soil borings at its football stadium
- The client requested accurate as-built plans for the entire campus’ underground infrastructure, including storm and sanitary lines
- All work needed to be completed within a month to accommodate the client’s project timeline
Solution
- GPRS mobilized a team of SIM and NASSCO-certified Project Managers, who collectively worked seven days a week throughout the month to fully map the campus
- The team deployed state-of-the-art subsurface investigation technology: ground penetrating radar (GPR) scanners, electromagnetic (EM) locators, and remote-controlled sewer inspection crawlers
- All this accurate, field-verified data was uploaded into SiteMap® (patent pending), GPRS’ infrastructure mapping software application
- Despite the campus’ mountainous terrain, GPRS was able to complete their work within the client’s desired timeframe
Benefits
- The client had accurate as-built documents to effectively plan their operations & maintenance
- GPRS’ nationwide reach and rapid response time ensured the client could stay on schedule with their project
- The collected data will be at the client’s fingertips 24/7 thanks to SiteMap, ensuring seamless communication and effortless collaboration on all future O&M projects
