PROBLEM
- The contractor needed to core through the post-tensioned concrete slabs inside a multi-story bank building to run plumbing and electrical for a renovation project
- They needed to know the location of all post tension cable and conduit embedded within the slabs, so they could avoid this infrastructure while coring
- A different concrete scanning company had scanned the coring locations, but unbeknownst to the contractor, the data was inaccurate
Solution
- A GPRS Project Manager deployed our industry-leading, 99.8%+ accurate concrete scanning services to investigate the areas where the contractor intended to core
- We identified banded post tension cable in two locations where the other concrete scanning company had indicated was clear for coring
- The Project Manager placed Green Boxes on the slab to clearly mark areas where the contractor was safe to core
Benefits
- The accurate and comprehensive data collected bythe GPRS Project Manager and provided to the client prevented costly andpotentially dangerous damage to the post tension slabs within the bank
- The renovation to the bank was able to continue without delay, ensuring the project budget remained intact
