CCTV Video Pipe Inspection of a Housing Development

Virginia Housing Development CCTV Video Pipe Inspection

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS) was hired to inspect storm and sewer pipes throughout a housing development in Richmond, Virginia due to flooding whenever it rained hard. The customer wanted to have all the storm and sewer pipes throughout the neighborhood inspected to see what might be causing the system to back up and flood the yards of the residents, as seen below.

When the Video Pipe Inspection (VPI) crew got on site, we made a sketch of the area which included all the manholes and catch basins that we needed to inspect.  Upon inspection of the storm and sewer system, we were able to determine an area of the pipe that was heavily damaged and was most likely the reason for the flooding. We determined that the pipe would need to be addressed immediately due to its depth and the possible hazards of the area above the pipe.  After inspecting the pipelines, we were able to add the route and all observations found, to the sketch.  The customer can now look back at the sewer system sketch and know the route, size and material of the pipes that were inspected.

GPRS can provide NASSCO certified reports that give ratings on the pipes condition and provide approximate locations and depths on pipes to let you know where the problem areas on a pipe are. We can pinpoint the area of damage to keep from digging the entire area up looking for the pipe.  GPRS VPI services Richmond, Virginia Beach, Fairfax, and all the other counties in the Virginia (VA) area.

Note: GPRS does not provide geophysical, geological, land surveying or engineering services. If you need such services, please contact an appropriate professional.
