Electricity has become a vital part of life in our country. It’s almost near impossible to realistically imagine what life would be like without it. Creating the electricity to power homes, businesses, and anything else you can think of is no simple task. Routine maintenance is constant. Occasionally surprises happen and immediate work needs to be done. If not treated with the respect in which it deserves, electricity can cause shock, burns, organ failure and even death. No matter what project is happening in the yard there are ways to keep yourself and your crew safer using underground utility location.
Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS) was called recently to scan a portion of the property at a power facility in the Las Vegas, Nevada area. Some new equipment was going to be installed and trenches needed to be dug. The general contractor made the wise decision to have utility locating done prior to digging. GPRS was able to locate the utilities in the area where the digging was planned to occur. A 400 MHz antenna with the ground penetrating radar was used by GPRS to scan the areas as well as a Radio Detection wand which picks most utilities with a current running through it. All of the findings were clearly marked on the surface with spray paint and discussed with the customer. Whether working on a power facility, an older historic landmark, or a freshly built hospital and everything in-between, Ground Penetrating Radar Systems can help.
Prior to saw cutting, core drilling, excavating, or boring in the Las Vegas and Southern Nevada areas, be safe and get as many questions answered as to what sub-surface obstructions are present. If you have questions about what lies beneath whatever surface you’re working on, GPRS should be able to give you a much clearer picture as to what you are dealing with. Typically able to arrive on site to begin scanning within 1-2 days, GPRS will take care of your project in a timely, safe, and accurate manner.
Note: GPRS does not provide geophysical, geological, land surveying or engineering services. If you need such services, please contact an appropriate professional.
