video pipe and sewer line inspection

Sewer Inspection in San Francisco, California

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS) was recently called out to perform a CCTV sewer pipe inspection in the Bay Area of San Francisco. The property management team for the housing complex has been looking into upgrading their underground sanitary sewer system and wanted to locate any issues in the current pipes, along with any issues within the eight manholes on the property. Due to this, video pipe inspection services were viewed as a great option for discovering the source of clogged or damaged sewer lines.

GPRS Project Manager, Tyler Papworth, was able to mobilize to the site and begin to diagnose any sewer problems, which required the use of several tools. First, the PM lowered a robotic crawler camera down a nearby manhole. This rover-type video camera is able to crawl up to 1,000 feet into a main line and perform our video inspections. During these inspections, GPRS found that tree roots had infiltrated the pipe in numerous locations which could cause sewer back up along with pipe damage. The next step for this project was to use a lateral launch camera so that the sewer laterals could be inspected. During the lateral pipeline inspection, it was discovered that tree roots had also penetrated the sewer lines. The GPRS PM decided to use one more tool on this project – a pipe push camera. This tool was inserted in a sewer cleanout near the building to ensure that all the pipes would be fully inspected. This video sewer inspection service was able to find the locations of numerous tree root infiltrations which helped the client in determining where to make the necessary repairs to the underground sewer system.

GPRS has many different subsurface inspection services including manhole inspections in Sacramento California, cross bore locating in Fresno California, sewer inspections in Stockton California, sewer and water pipe locating in San Jose California, and sewer lateral video inspections in Reno Nevada.
