Environmental Utility Locating - Houston, TX

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS) of the Houston office was called by a national environmental firm to perform the private utility locate prior to drilling about a four soil borings. Allyn Hirsch, technician on site, used GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) 400 MHz utility antenna penetrating 3 or 4 feet into the soil and Radio Detection wand marking out the electromagnetic fields produced by data cables, low voltage telephone, energized conduits and various other steel-like anomalies. In the picture above, the first location is being drilled in an area mere feet away from a UST and an electric line. This type of precision and safety was enabled by locating all potentially obstructive utilities and underground storage tanks prior to boring.
