Conduit Locating Project - Elmira, New York

Conduit Locating Project - Elmira, New YorkA local general contracting company in the Elmira, NY area is currently completing a remodeling project, in which they will be putting in a new Starbucks location. Part of the remodeling project will call for them to run new piping through the concrete floor. For the new routing they needed to saw cut through floor, while avoiding any steel other conduits and underground pipes present within the area.

The contractor working on the project had used ground penetrating radar on previous projects, similar to this, and knew it would save time, and reduce the chance to destroying any other utility lines present within the slab. They decided to call the premier GPR company in the country, Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. to complete the scan.

Jim Bell of the Upstate, NY office, which focuses on the Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton, Corning/Elmira, and Albany markets mobilized to the site and was able to quickly detect and lay out the lines running through the areas in which the concrete would need to be cut out. Jim and GPR were able to complete this project in real time and with none of the radiation concerns that come with using x-ray. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems has the ability to locate and map out rebar, post-tension and conduit prior to saw cutting and trenching.
