GPRS Locates Utilities In Las Vegas, NV

Utility Locating McCarran Airport Las Vegas, NV

GPRS’s office in Las Vegas, NV. was hired directly by McCarran Airport to locate underground utilities prior to the installation of a new underground gas line. Part of the scope was to locate all utilities just outside of B gate, as the photo above indicates. While scanning around B gate we were able to locate fuel lines, water, gas, and some underground power conduits to the gates. GPRS was able to locate these lines by using both an EM locator and GPR. The power and existing gas line was traced out by direct connecting to the pipe or by attaching to a tracer wire with our transmitter box from the EM locator. Once we are direct connecting to a pipe or tracer wire, we are able to induce a signal along that line and trace it out with the locating wand to find its exact route. Once these lines are located with the EM locator, we then can scan over top of them with GPR to determine the approximate depths of the marked lines. Some of the fire water lines were located by the use of the Thumper. The Thumper is attached to the fire hydrant and then we traced the line by the sound of the water that is being pulsated through the pipe. The fuel lines were detected by the GPR since we were not able to transmit a signal with the EM locator.

Along with marking all findings on the ground with either pin flags or paint, GPRS also offers a service of collecting all the findings with a GPS and putting it into a google earth overlay or CAD for future reference. We can typically have the google earth overlay to the customer in three to five business days.
