GPRS Locates Post Tension Cables and Rebar prior to Core Drilling at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital
In January 2020, Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS) was requested on site by a general contractor to perform a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey. The contractor needed to core drill numerous holes to install new conduits and exhaust line runs for a new CT machine. The contractor needed to know if there were any conduits and or structural obstacles in the area to avoid drilling through them. GPRS located rebar pattern and post tension (PT) cables within the area as well as a beam. There were no conduits in the area scanned and where the hole was to be drilled. The rebar pattern was painted on the surface with B indicating bottom bars and T indicating top bars. The hole location was located and would sever a PT cable. Before you saw cut or core drill, call GPRS to know what’s in the or just under the slab!
