GPRS Utility Locate for Soil Borings in a Gas Station in Detroit, Michigan

A Detroit contractor needed to locate the public utilities at one of their project sites. They wanted to drill soil borings around a gas station for soil testing. They wanted to do this without drilling into and damaging any underground utilities within the area, which could shut off power to a gas pump, or cause a gas leak, as well as potentially harming a worker in the area. The contractor hired Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS) to come in and mark out the public utilities and product lines around the pump stations. The scope of the project consisted of 8 soil boring locations.

Using the SIR-3000 we were able to locate and paint out the path of the product lines (White) and at other locations were able to locate electric, phone lines, water pipes, and storm drains. The utilities were clearly marked out with different colored paint so the contractor could tell each utility apart. Thanks to our service the contractor was able to drill all of their boring locations without any mishaps or damage repairs. All of our project managers are OSHA certified and come to every project site with the correct PPE. GPRS is also able and willing to work nights to accommodate all customer needs.
