Watermark Condominium – GPR Project
in New Smyrna Beach, FL near Orlando, FL

The Watermark Condo association in New Smyrna Beach, FL was concerned that they had concrete deterioration on the inland access balconies.  They were trying to determine what course of action/repair to take and decided to do some internet research prior to jumping into any large scale repair efforts.  They quickly found Ground Penetrating Radar Systems and contacted Chris Moore (of the GPRS Orlando, FL location) to discuss what possible services ground penetrating radar could offer.  Mr. Moore was able to explain that GPR has the ability to map deterioration of concrete over large areas and place the results on a color coded plan view for their customers.  The results of the survey would be a map showing what areas of the concrete possess the greatest deterioration and what areas of the concrete are still in good condition.  With this information that could easily determine what areas of the concrete to fix and what areas to leave alone.  The hope was that this survey would save the condo association a lot of money and take the guess work out of trying to determine what concrete was failing.  With this information the condo association hired GPRS to perform the survey.

On site GPRS surveyed 6 different concrete balconies, collected and saved the data, and returned to the office to process and generate a report.  The data collection process was completed in one day and the report was back in the hands of the Watermark condo association within 7 business days.  The report showed that the concrete was in relatively good condition with the exception of a few areas that would need repair.  This was good news as the repair costs and estimates would now be greatly reduced.  Overall the project was a success and the Watermark Condominium Association was highly satisfied with the information and data ground penetrating radar was able to provide on their project.

Chris Moore runs GPRS operations in the South Eastern United States.  He is based in Orlando, FL and he can be reached at (321)331-2127 or by email at chris.moore@gp-radar.com. Concrete scanning and surveying is a common application performed by the GPR technicians at GPRS.
