Parkview Hotel

The historic Parkview Hotel on the north side of Chicago has been undergoing a major renovation. As part of this remodeling, new mechanical equipment and shelving was installed on the penthouse level. Terra Consulting Group wanted to be sure that the concrete floor had strong enough steel reinforcing to support the new equipment. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was brought in to perform a concrete analysis of this floor, to provide data for the slab thickness rebar spacing, rebar depth, and an estimate of the rebar size. GPRS was able to scan a large section of the floor and provide the results of the concrete analysis immediately.

Nathan Machel runs GPRS operations in the Chicago Region. He is based in Chicago, IL and he can be reached at 847-514-2277 or by email at nathan.machel@gp-radar.com.  Concrete scanning for the purposes of identifying the location of rebar and post-tensioning is the most frequent service performed by the GPR technicians at GPRS.

GPRS technician Nathan Machel performs a concrete analysis on the floor at the Parkview Hotel. GPRS was able to determine the slab thickness, rebar size, and the depth and spacing of the steel reinforcing.
