JDK was contracted by the Orlando International Airport along with Budget Rental Cars, Alamo Rental Cars, and Enterprise Rental Car companies to perform kiosk renovations in the A and B Side Parking Garages. This is a large project and when both parking garages are reinforced with post tension cables it becomes a little more troublesome. The renovation project called for the installation of new “tiger teeth”, crash barriers, booths and electrical penetrations. Multiple penetrations were going to be made into the concrete and JDK and OIA wanted to be certain that the post tension cables were not damaged in the process.
JDK contracted GPRS (Glenn Zebrowski and Chris Moore) to perform the post tension locating surveys. Because GPR has zero health side effects down time for the parking garage operations was not an issue. Also, in contrast with x-ray, which is often limited to shooting 1 2’x2’ shot at a time, ground penetrating radar can run and record data for hundreds of feet. GPRS was and ground penetrating radar technology were the logical choice to locate the cables.
On site GPRS was scanned multiple locations and marked all of the reinforcing steel findings directly on the surface. JDK was then able to come back through and make minor placement adjustments to ensure that they did not hit anything. The combination of accurate and timely rebar and post tension cable locating meant that JDK did not have to change their build schedule to accommodate the locating time constraints.

JDK was very pleased with the overall output of the ground penetrating radar scans and will definitely use GPRS in the future. Glenn Zebrowski (pictured below) was the main technician serving and attending to the needs of JDK. Glenn Zebrowski operates out of the GPRS Miami, FL location.
