Uretek ICR had a small project in Zephyrhills, FL where they intended to drill several small holes through a concrete pool deck at a private residence. The purpose of the drilling was to perform their chemical grout injection process and lift/solidify the pool deck from future movement. Being that this process involves drilling there is the potential for them to hit unknown utilities beneath the surface. Specifically, in this situation they were concerned about hitting pool water lines and conduits. Uretek will frequently call GPRS to perform utility locating for jobs both in and around homes and businesses.
Jim James and Chris Moore GPRS mobilized to the residence and Zephyrhills and used ground penetrating radar as well as radio detection to map all unknown utilities on the surface of the concrete. Jim and Chris were able to locate water lines, sewer lines, and conduits running through the pool area. Uretek was then able to strategically locate their drill points to safely avoid all of these utilities. Uretek has continued to be complimentary of ground penetrating radar as a technology and GPRS as the GPR service provider of choice. We at GPRS look forward to serving Uretek on many future projects.
