GPRS was contact by GWTT, Inc. of Tampa, FL to mobilize to a project in Jacksonville, FL.
GWTT had several hundred feet of trenching to excavate before running new water lines, electrical conduits, and other utilities. They were concerned, prior to digging, that they may unintentionally hit or damage other known and unknown utilities buried in the ground. For this reason they called Ground Penetrating Radar Systems.
GPRS, Inc. is often called to mobilize to a project to locate underground utilities. Ground penetrating radar is an extremely accurate and effective way of locating the impediments in the ground. GPRS has found its accuracy to be +/- 6” when marking the center of the pipe and +/-10% when determine the depth of the object. The process is normally very quick and field markings are placed in real time.
With this in mind, GPRS completed the utility locating process in Jacksonville marking all utilities discovered and explaining the findings to the GWTT representative. GWTT was then able to continue with its excavation schedule with more confidence and an understanding of what hazards lay in their path. On site we were able to scan 600-700 lineal feet in just four
hours in the field.
