Working in combination with a mechanical contractor, a GPR survey was performed to locate rebar and any conduits in an elevated concrete slab in the Chicago, IL area. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS) was there to conduct the GPR survey to map out any rebar, conduits and any other unknowns that may have been in the way of coring the concrete slab. The reason GPR surveys are used on areas like this is to locate any hazards that may be in the way ensuring general job safety. This ensures that nothing in the slab will be comprised and projects won’t have delays.
GPRS of Chicago was able to conduct the scan and locate and map the rebar and conduits for the client. They will be able to proceed with any coring and drilling that they had planned. GPRS can help keep projects on schedule by letting the clients know where problem areas may be.
Rebar mapping and conduit locating is a common application for GPRS technicians.
