GPRS clearly marked all obstructions directly on the slab with estimated depths. |
Veterans Affairs Medical Center needed to drill penetrations through an elevated slab with embedded electrical conduits for mechanical pipe penetrations. The area that needed to be scanned, using ground penetrating radar, was located inside the mechanical room on the 2rd floor. Thus they contacted specialists in concrete scanning, GPRS. This is an ideal application for ground penetrating radar as conduit and rebar locating are GPR specialties. GPRS, Inc. from Orlando / Miami, FL took the call and mobilized to the site.
On site, GPRS was able to identify all electrical conduits and rebar quickly and accurately. They marked them on the surface of the slab indicating rebar or conduits. GPRS then collaborated with Mike, from Energy Air Inc., as to the best places to core drill to avoid striking a conduit. The project was a success and why radar is “The New Way to X-Ray”.
Ron Anderson runs GPRS operations in the South Florida. He is based in Miami, FL and he can be reached at (305) 801-4138 or by email at ron.anderson@gp-radar.com. Chris Moore is the Florida/Gulf Coast Regional Director and is based out of Orlando, FL. He can be reached at (321) 331-2127 or chris.moore@gp-radar.com. Concrete scanning for the purposes of identifying the location of rebar and electrical conduits is a very frequent service performed by the GPR technicians at GPRS Inc.
