Non-Destructive Scan in Tampa, Florida

Non-Destructive Scan FloridaSkanska was in the process of building a new facility at the University of Florida and decided that they would like to confirm the presence of the rebar stirrups at the tops of a number of bullnose columns that had been constructed on the top floor of the building.  Ground Penetrating Radar Services had recently given a presentation for Skanska as part of a week they had devoted to job site safety.  Due to this presentation, Skanska was aware that GPRS could provide exactly this kind of non-destructive verification quickly and safely.

Jim James and GPRS mobilized to the site and proceeded to map out both the vertical and horizontal rebar that were running through the columns and map the bars directly on the column surface.  Skanska was then able to review the engineering plans for the building and confirm that the columns had been built exactly to specifications.  Below is a picture of one of these columns.  Per Skanska personnel’s request, the horizontal bars were marked with lines and the vertical bars were marked with the vertical dashes that can be seen.
