When General Caulking and Coatings Company, Inc of Miami, FL was working at The Wachovia Financial Center in Miami, FL they needed to be sure that they wouldn’t hit any reinforcing steel when replacing a section of the buildings fascia near the 14th floor. General Caulking contacted GPRS, Inc of Miami, FL and explained the situation and asked if our technician would be willing to do a scan from a sky-lift. This was not an issue for GPRS of Miami, and we knew that this is an ideal application for ground penetrating radar as our radar unit is portable to get into small spaces and able to scan from only one exposed surface. GPRS, Inc. from Miami, FL took the call and mobilized to the site quickly.
On site GPRS was able to identify that the reinforcing steel that were present and give depths to the top of bar in the concrete quickly and accurately. This information was vital to General Caulking as they needed to place the anchors into the new fascia piece prior to installing to the wall.
