Working in a soon to be restaurant on Kinzie Ave. in downtown Chicago, IL., Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS) was there to conduct the GPR survey to map out any post tension / rebar or conduits around areas that needed to be cored for drains, sinks and restrooms. The reason GPR surveys are used on areas like this is to locate any hazards that may be in the way of coring the concrete. This ensures that none of the rebar / post tension cables will be damaged and the concrete slab will retain its integrity.
GPRS of Chicago was able to conduct the scan and locate all the rebar / post tension cables in the slab for the client. They will be able to proceed with the their coring for the placement of drains and sinks. GPRS can help keep projects on schedule by letting the clients know where problem areas may be.
Post tension and rebar mapping is a common application for GPRS technicians.
