In June of 2011 Ground Penetrating Radar Systems completed a job at the Wachovia Tower in downtown Raleigh. GPRS was called on the job to locate Post Tension cables and conduit in an 8 inch slab on the 7th floor. The general contractor on this project was Riley Lewis Inc. Our services were needed because the plumbers needed to core through the floor to bring the water lines up from the lower levels. With the Technology of GPR, Ground Penetrating Radar Systems located and cleared spots in the concrete floor for the core drillers. There were 9 locations to core and all holes were safely drilled.
One of the best benefits of GPR is the factor of safety. When the tendons are drilled through they will snap and cause structural damage to the building. Conduit was also located in the slab and GPRS kept the core drillers from harm’s way.
Nate Stair was the technician on the job. He has been with Ground Penetrating Radar Systems since March of 2011. This was his first time working with Riley Lewis general contractors and they were very satisfied with his service.
