When a renovation occurs in an existing structure and new plumbing and electrical must be ran through the concrete to fit the new tenants the question of what is in the concrete must be asked. When a new tenant needed to place a restaurant in an existing building in The National Harbor the construction manager knew he needed to locate what was in the concrete before coring and contacted GPRS to help him out. With over 20 holes to be placed in an existing post tension building Ground Penetrating Radar in Virginia was called to mark out the post tension cables to ensure no strikes occurred during coring. Regional Director, Jamey Harmon, was able to arrive on site and mark out all the post tension cables around the proposed coring locations in real time while on site. This allowed construction to continue safely and without delay to the project. No costly repairs to the post tension cables is an added benefit of having the area scanned with GPR. With GPR the work is done quickly and efficiently allowing the other trades to continue work on site while the scanning is being done.
