Recently during a remodel on the seventh floor of the Triad building which does work with KSL T.V. in downtown Salt Lake City, Layton Interior Construction Specialists needed to locate the reinforcement running close to their coring holes. The structural engineers mandated that no core could be within two inches of any reinforcement. Layton ICS contracted Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Salt Lake City because of the success they have had with them in the past. The technician on site was able to perform non-destructive testing to locate and map any reinforcement near the concrete cores.
This particular floor was still active with workers and the site could not be cleared for several x-rays, and since GPR emits no radiation it was the only option for this project. The locating technology that GPRS Inc. uses is the latest in GPR and is very portable, which makes moving potential cores to better locations very easy to do. Surveys like this are being performed in areas of Utah such as: Vernal, Richfield, Draper and Tooele. GPRS Inc of Salt Lake City is also servicing areas of Idaho such as: Rupert, Burley, Twin Falls and Jerome. |
