In October of 2010 Blattner Energy needed to locate any unknown pipelines or underground utilities for the Elk City II Wind Project. They contacted Scott Clay of GPRS’ Dallas regional office to ask about identifying any existing utilities or unknown pipelines, through the use of Ground Penetrating Radar technology.
GPRS, Inc. surveyed (68) Turbine sites throughout the Elk City II Wind Project before any excavating took place for the foundation pads that where between 7-9 feet in depth.
Blattner Energy did not know exactly how many pipelines or utilities were in the area prior to trenching for their collection lines over a 68 mile stretch but GPRS, Inc. was able to identify; 21 telephone lines, 2 water lines, 1 high voltage electrical line and 1 Underground Storage Tank. GPRS, Inc. was able to perform the work on a timely basis for Blattner Energy.
