Harty Tractor had a project at Ormond Beach Middle School where they needed to install a temporary sanitary pipe to facilitate other upgrades and projects being conducted at the school. Prior to digging the 250 lineal foot trench Harty Tractor wanted to be sure they knew where all underground utilities were. The area where they proposed to install the new sanitary line was a known utility corridor.

Harty Tractor contact GPRS and asked them to mobilize to the site to perform the utility survey and investigation. Ground penetrating radar is often used for this type of survey as it is specifically suited to locate all types of underground utilities. GPR is capable of locating metal, plastic, and direct bury utilities. GPRS performed the survey in under 2 hours marking all found utilities directly on the surface. In addition to mapping/painting the utilities GPRS also provided depth indications from the surface to the top of the pipe. The aided Harty Tractor in their design process as they knew what pipes they would need to dig under and what pipes they could pass over top.

The pictures below show Chris Moore performing the actual survey. You will notice marking flags and paint indicating the location of the utilities found. If you would like more information about ground penetrating radar please visit our website at www.gp-radar.com.
