Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Omaha recently completed a project for CRA at the Union Pacific Railroad facility in North Platte, Nebraska. The contractor needed to bore holes inside the diesel facility to test the soil below. There was concern over hitting utilities while coring the concrete and boring through the soil below.
Kurt Schamberger of GPRS Omaha/Kansas City mobilized to the site to assist in locating the utilities. Ground Penetrating Radar was used for this project as well as Radio Detection. Data was marked on the surface showing the location of the utilities that were found.
Ground Penetrating Radar is called many different things in the construction industry and can include: GPR, Radar, Imaging, Sonar, X-Ray, Concrete X-Ray, Geophysical survey and sub-surface scanning.
