GPR Survey Maps Post Tension Cables
at the Oakbrook Shopping Center

Working in conjunction with construction companies a GPR survey was conducted on an elevated post tension slab inside the Oakbrook Shopping Center in Oakbrook, IL.Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS) was there to conduct the GPR survey to map out any post tension cables as well as any other unknowns around several roof drains.  The reason GPR surveys are used on areas like this is to locate any hazards that may be in the way of placing dowel rods for the new roof drains.  This ensures that nothing in the slab will be comprised.

GPRS of Chicago was able to conduct the scan and locate all post tension cables in the slab for the client.  They were able to proceed with the placement of the roof drains.  GPRS can help keep projects on schedule by letting the clients know where problem areas may be.

Post tension and rebar mapping is a common application for GPRS technicians.   If you have any questions regarding the use of Ground Penetrating Radar for concrete scanning or underground imaging on your job site in Illinois or Northwest Indiana, please contact John Lause at
