GPRS Utility Locating Project with AMEC
at The Sarasota Bradenton International Airport
in Sarasota, Florida

Locating Utility

AMEC, which is a consulting, engineering, and project management firm, had a project going on at the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport in Sarasota, FL.  Their project required that they core drill the concrete surface near the flight-line of the airport in front of a number of hangars.  AMEC and the airport ownership were concerned about the utilities that are running amongst the hangars, and decided that they wanted to have all of the utilities located prior to any drilling.  AMEC had previously used GPRS to do similar work at multiple locations and knew that this was the kind of service that GPRS could provide quickly, efficiently, and accurately.  After receiving the call, Jim James and Jordan James, the Tampa, FL and New Orleans, LA representatives respectively, mobilized to the site and performed the survey within a couple of hours.

Upon arrival on site, Jim and Jordan cleared 11 locations prior to drilling by marking all utilities that ran through or near any of the proposed coring sites.  They located electrical conduits, drains, and other utilities and marked all of these directly on the surface so that AMEC could know exactly where the safe places to core were.  The picture below shows Jim locating utilities in front of one of the hangars.
