In October of 2011, Ground Penetrating Radar Systems were contracted for a UST investigation in Goldsboro, North Carolina. This project required the technology of GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) for a sub-surface survey to locate Underground Storage Tanks. Terracon Consultants Inc. is a very reputable company that has been a great customer of GPRS and has been using GPR in the Raleigh / Fayetteville area. The initial exploration was for 2 tanks with product lines running into a fuel station. The fuel lines were located and depths were marked and found leading into two UST’s. Upon further scanning, three other unknown tanks were also found. The contractor was able to safely drill for soil borings without hitting any utilities or obstructions in the ground.
