Have you ever thought to yourself “That was the best money I ever spent”. Well at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan that just might be the case. Recently a mechanical contractor needed to make some saw cuts to remove a concrete slab within the hospital. Even though the saw cutting portion of the job was minimal the contractor decided to hire GPRS to scan the concrete prior to the saw cutting.
What was found might have saved the contractor and the hospital thousands of dollars in repair costs and potential critical equipment shutdown. Within a 100 square foot area, 4 electrical conduits were found in the slab and many more about a foot under the slab. Some of the conduits could have very well fed the surgery department, major computers, radiology, or even an entire wing of the hospital. Having the location and depth of these conduits allowed for the contractor to take the necessary steps to complete the job without interruption and down time.
Should you need to locate electrical conduits or other piping in or below a concrete slab, contact John Kessinger at 734-377-4551 or by email at john.kessinger@gp-radar.com.
