Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was recently in Wyoming to scan four miles of trench for utility lines. Williams Co. is in charge of laying thirteen miles of pipe in the ground to connect two gas pumping stations. After digging up several abandoned pipes Williams Co. decided to not risk hitting a live line and called GPRS Inc. in to assist. Accurate and thorough detection of utilities is not just a matter of efficiency but also safety, which is why GPRS Inc. also uses radio detection technology to supplement radar in their efforts.
At this jobsite GPRS Inc. accurately located several two inch thick lines more than four feet under the surface, all of which were live and possible safety risks. GPRS Inc. is currently scheduled to return to Wyoming to finish the
remaining 9 miles due to their success.
