GPRS Concrete Imaging at Project Total Electric Service in the Tampa International Airport
in Tampa, Florida

Concrete Imaging Tampa International AirportTotal Electric Service had a project going in one of the terminals at the Tampa International Airport. During the project, it became clear that they would need to core drill through the concrete floor at several of the gates inside of the terminal. Total Electric Service knew that the terminal structure contained post-tension cable and had the possibility to contain live conduits. In order to safely drill these locations without risking compromising the structure or putting the driller in danger, they decided to contact Jim James with Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS) to see what type of locating service they could provide. GPRS quickly informed them that with their technology it should not be difficult to locate and map both the post-tension cables and any electrical conduits that may be running through the suspended slab. GPRS mobilized to the site and used ground penetrating radar to perform the concrete imaging in a half day.

When the survey was complete, Total Electric Service was able to easily see the where the locations were that were safe to drill, with each obstruction marked directly on the surface. They were then able to safely core drill each location without fear of compromising the stability of the building.

The picture shows Jim checking his markings on the terminal floor. If you are interested in obtaining more information or a quote please contact your local representative near you.
