Conducting Post Tension at the Admiral
at the Lake in Chicago, Illinois

Working in conjunction with window installer a GPR survey was conducted on eight floor of an elevated post tension slab at the Admiral at the Lake a new high rise building overlooking the lake in downtown Chicago, IL. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS) was there to conduct the GPR survey to map out any post tension cables as well as any other unknowns for anchors around the placement of balcony doors. The reason GPR surveys are used on areas like this is to locate any hazards that may be in the way of anchors used to secure the doors in place. This ensures that nothing in the slab will be comprised.

GPRS of Chicago was able to conduct the scan and locate all post tension cables in the slab for the client. They will be able to proceed with the placement of anchors for their balcony doors. GPRS can help keep projects on schedule by letting the clients know where problem areas may be.

Post tension and rebar mapping is a common application for GPRS technicians. If you have any questions regarding the use of Ground Penetrating Radar for concrete scanning or underground imaging on your job site in Illinois or Northwest Indiana, please contact John Lause at 312-485-7725 or john.lause@gp-radar.com.
