When the SMW Engineering, Inc. of Mobile, AL needed to locate an existing sanitary sewer line to determine where the line was running they contacted GPRS, Inc of Orlando, FL. SMW Engineering was contact to perform a site survey and draw a map of the sewer system on site in Perry, FL to determine the existing sanitary sewer line was tied into the adjacent property. SMW needed to know the precise location of the underground utility and its depth so they could plot it on a plan view. With this being the need they contact Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. to come out and perform the survey and mark out the exact location of the sewer line. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. has used their equipment to perform similar surveys with great success and was confident they would be able to provide the results SMW was looking for.
On site GPRS surveyed a large area to definitively determine the location of the sewer line and painted it directly on the surface over the requested distance. Additionally, after finding the sewer line SMW requested that GPRS locate any other existing utilities running near the sewer line as repairs were needed. All other existing utilities were then painted on the surface and depth indications were marked out for map making purposes. These pieces of information were critical to the project moving forward, making the site map correctly, and developing a repair plan. Overall the project was a success and the SMW was highly satisfied with the information and data ground penetrating radar was able to provide on their project.
