Seneca Environmental GPR Project, Akron, Iowa

GPR surveySeneca Environmental Corporation of Des Moines, IA, is overseeing the rehabilitation of a site in Akron, IA, along the South Dakota border, which was previously the site of a gas station. Records showed that at least three underground storage tanks had been installed, but there was nothing to indicate whether they had been removed or abandoned in place. Seneca requested a GPR survey to locate any underground storage tanks which had been left in place beneath the site.

GPRS Chicago manager Nathan Machel traveled to the site in western Iowa to perform the UST locate. Within a very short time, a group of three large metallic objects was found buried near the old pump island, which are almost certainly the underground storage tanks. With this information, Seneca will be able to properly assess the condition of the storage tanks and determine what action needs to be taken.
