Secure Foundation Systems, Inc.
GPR Project in Ocala, FL

Ocala, FL is located near
Orlando, FL and Gainesville, FL

Secure Foundation Systems, Inc. specializes in the stabilization of homes that have been found to be sinking or moving.  They typically install large pins below the foundation of the structure or home in questions to stabilize it.  They were on a project where they were going to have to saw cut and remove a large portion of the concrete slab on the interior of the home to install additional pins and recognized the potential risk of striking or hitting a utility just below the concrete.  With this in mind they contacted Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Orlando, FL and inquired about their services.  Chris Moore with GPRS informed them that this was something ground penetrating radar was very good at doing.  Secure Foundations contracted with GPRS and they mobilized to the site to survey nearly 1,000 square feet of concrete on the interior of the home with the hopes of locating electrical conduits, sanitary sewer lines and water lines that may be buried beneath the surface.

Once on site GPRS surveyed the interior of the home placing scans on 2-3 foot centers.   This allows them the maximum amount of coverage while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.  They survey the entire area in a little less than 4 hours and were able to locate several potential strike hazards.  As you can see in the pictures below, the area of concern contained electrical conduit, sewer lines and water lines.  GPRS marked all of the utilities on the surface with paint and provided an approximate depth to the top of the utility indicated.  This information can now be used by the concrete cutter and excavation crew to ensure that none of the lines are damaged.

Utility locating of this nature is becoming more and more prevalent for Ground Penetrating Radar Systems in Florida.  Secure Foundations was extremely satisfied with the quality of locating performed on their site.  If you have questions about the capabilities of ground penetrating radar on your site, please call us.  We will be more than happy to answer all questions and provide you with a competitive price quote.
