GPRS, Inc was contacted by Property Consulting Group about performing a Ground Penetrating Radar survey for the purpose of locating voids beneath the concrete surrounding a pool. The pool is placed at the back of a condo along an active waterway and a large sea wall which separates the waterway from the elevated pool slab. The concern was the sub-grade below the pool slab was being washed out along the sea wall. James Hanskat with Property Consulting Group contacted Chris Moore of Ground Penetrating Radar Systems’ Florida division and inquired about the effectiveness of GPR in reference to void detection. Mr. Moore was able to respond confidently because GPR is a great tool for void locating and our company commonly uses ground penetrating radar for determining the presence of voids and sinkholes throughout the state of Florida.

Chris Moore mobilized to the site and completed the void survey in short order. The results were plotted on the concrete in the field and the findings were reviewed with the lead engineer. The data provided by GPRS, Inc. will be significant in developing engineering solutions to the sub-grade conditions that have occurred.

In addition, the property management was considering removing the entire slab, which would have been extremely costly. With the GPR findings they management now realizes that only a small portion of the concrete will need to be repaired, saving them a substantial amount money.

Property Consulting Group was provided a written report of the findings containing screen shots of the data as well as pertinent site information. All-in-all they were very happy with the service they received.

Chris Moore runs GPRS operations in the state of Florida. He is based in Central Florida and he can be reached at 727-420-3292 or by email at chris.moore@gp-radar.com.
