Featured Story: The Lodge at Vail, Colorado Concrete Scan When there was concern over hitting post tension cables in Vail, Colorado, S.R.E. Builders contacted Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Colorado to do the locate. One of the units in The Lodge at Vail was being renovated and 3 new penetrations needed to be cut in the tensioned concrete floor. GPRS easily located the cables in the floor so the project could continue. The Lodge at Vail has year round tenants that could not be moved, so radiation was not an option when scanning the concrete. Concrete imaging was the only way that would be possible to locate the post tension tendons in Vail. Radar emits absolutely no radiation while scanning for the cables and conduits in concrete. GPRS of Colorado is able to perform a survey of this type in Vail, Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs, Aspen, Frisco and Edwards, Colorado. SWS First Response – GPRS Project @ a Progress Energy Substation near Orlando, FL
The first step in the process, however, is to determine the location of the underground electrical conduits and grounding wire.  SWS frequently contacts GPRS to survey their areas with ground penetrating radar and map out all utilities that may be in the area. 

Conduit Mapping at the University of Florida Campus
This is a conduit mapping project with slab-on-grade concrete.  The general contractor planned to cut out a section of concrete outlined in orange paint to run new plumbing lines in an older dormitory on the University of Florida campus.  They contracted GPRS to come in and locate all conduits (live and dead conduits) prior to the saw cutting.

Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center in College Station TX- (Locate Underground Utilities and Electrical Conduit) Chappell Hill Construction needed to saw-cut several trenches into an existing concrete slab

Whiting-Turner @ Disney’s DISC Building Lake Buena Vista, FL - Whiting-Turner planned to cut the asphalt/concrete in several small areas for new concrete foundations, however, they were concerned they would hit existing electrical conduit and plumbing pipes in the area.

Aurora, Colorado - Apartment Builders LLC of Aurora, Colorado needed to locate Post-Tension cables prior to coring on a parking deck. The City Lights Apartment Complex in Aurora, Colorado was the site of the project.

Convergent Company in Hollywood, California - Convergent is going to install a crane on a job site in Hollywood, California and wanted to make sure there were no voids under the street where the outriggers would

Sibley Solutions Project - Memphis, Tennessee - GPRS, Inc was contacted by Sibley Solutions about locating underground utilities in and around a proposed construction site at the Baxter Facility in Memphis, TN. 

Horizon Retail Construction - At GPRS, we deal with these issues for the construction industry on a daily basis.  Mitch Ross of GPRS was able to quickly and accurately locate the Post Tension cables and conduit in this concrete slab. 

Commercial Finish Group - Construction never stops, not even in a busy mall in the middle of the Christmas shopping season.  As a “Noodles” Restaurant was being put into an existing mall in December of 2007, the mall management wanted to be sure that the operation of the rest of the facility would not be disturbed.

Arcadis GM - During soil testing at a GM Stamping Plant in Pittsburgh, PA, Arcadis drilled through an electrical conduit that they were not aware of.  They then called GPRS, Inc. to locate conduits prior to drilling all of the remaining soil testing locations.
