GPRS Called to Locate Post-Tension
Cables in Greeley, Colorado

When JE Dunn Construction needed to saw-cut multiple trenches in a hospital without striking PT Cables and conduits they called GPRS of Denver, Colorado. The project was located at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado. The Hospital was remodeling in order to put in a new Operating Room.

Multiple trenches needed to be cut out and in order to safely do the cutting the contractor needed to be aware of any obstructions within and below the concrete slab. This is an ideal application for ground penetrating radar as PT Cable and electrical conduit locating are GPR specialties. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems from Denver, CO took the call and mobilized to the site. GPR is sometimes referred to as: ground sonar, ground radar, concrete scan, concrete x-ray or geophysical survey.

On site GPRS was able to identify all of the possible areas where post tensioning cables and electrical conduits would cross the areas that would be saw-cut. The areas in question were marked out on the surface.

Jason Schaff is the Regional Manager for the Mountain Division. He is based in Denver, CO and he can be reached at (303) 945-5415 for an estimate on concrete surveys. Jason can also be reached by email at Jason.Schaff@GP-Radar.com. Concrete x-ray by using GPR for the purposes of identifying the location of rebar and post-tensioning is the most frequent service performed by the GPR technicians at GPRS.
