GPRS Albuquerque Called to Map
Rebar in Las Vegas, New Mexico

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was contacted when cracking was noticed on a concrete support for a propane tank in Las Vegas, NM.  The owners of the tank wanted to know if there was a possibility of cutting of the top of the pier off and re-pouring the top portion of the concrete. GPRS Albuquerque was able to mobilize to the site and scan the concrete piers.

The result of the scan was that there were two layers of rebar within the concrete structure. There was vertical and horizontal rebar on 12” centers. It was also determined that towards the bottom of the structure that the vertical rebar did not go all the way to the top of the concrete. The vertical rebar was two separate bars which may allow the concrete to be cut at this point (the rebar on the lower portion was marked with orange to distinguish its location).
