Beaches Condo on Singer Island, FL

GPRSGPRS, Inc was contacted by a condo owner in the Beaches Condo Tower to survey the concrete floor and locate all reinforcing steel. The customer was planning on doing a bathroom renovation and needed to know where they could drill a 5” core without hitting any rebar or post tensioned cables in the floor. Ground penetrating radar proved to be the perfect technology for the application.

GPRSX-ray (radiography) was an alternative method of testing; however, it has some limitations that made GPR the most attractive option. X-ray requires access to both sides of the concrete as well as a 75’ sphere clear of human presences as radiation can be harmful to health. The condo unit beneath was occupied so that made ground penetrating radar the clear and easy choice. GPR has NO health complications and only needs access to one side of the slab. The work took roughly fifteen minutes to complete and all of the rebar and post-tensioned cables were located and marked on the surface. GPR was also able to provide approximate depths to each steel reaction.

The clients were highly satisfied with not only the results of the survey but with the professionalism exemplified by the GPRS representative.

“I would like to thank-you for completing this project for us. Your skills and expertise gave us the confidence necessary to complete the task of drilling safely. We wish all of our encounters, with professionals, are pleasant as that which we experienced with you.”
