Concrete Imaging Project in Artesia, New Mexico

GPRS Albuquerque was contacted to assist on a project at a refinery in Artesia, New Mexico. As a company, GPRS is frequently called to work on refinery projects including locating underground utilities, underground tanks and sub-surface voids. For this specific project a concrete column needed to be scanned in order to identify what sort of reinforcing steel was within the concrete. A decision had to be made about whether the columns were strong enough to hold any additional weight.

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems

A local concrete x-ray contractor was called to map out the area but was not able to perform the survey due to the concrete being too thick.  Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Albuquerque took the call. GPRS was able to mobilize to the site and identify very quickly what the content of the concrete column was. GPRS uses GPR technology which is also sometimes referred to as concrete imaging, ground radar, ground sonar, imaging and even concrete x-ray. The images shown below show the findings of the GPR test.
