Bergelectric
Company Winter Garden, FL
GPRS,
Inc was contacted by Bergelectric Company about locating
rebar and post tensioning cables in a concrete slab
at the new Grande Palisades Resort being built in Winter
Garden, FL. Berg had a few sleeve locations that had
missed the proposed wall lines. They needed to drill
new holes to adjust that would hide their electrical
conduits in the walls. They contacted Chris Moore with
GPRS, Inc to
locate all of the reinforcing
steel in the concrete prior to core drilling.
Once on site GPRS
was able to lay out the rebar and post-tensioning
in the concrete so nothing will be damaged during the
drilling process. Ground penetrating
radar continues to be an excellent tool
for locating all types of reinforcing
steel (rebar, post tensioned cables, beams,
etc) in concrete.
Chris begins the concrete scanning
process to identify the location of the post-tensioning
and rebar
prior to core drilling for the sleeves that were
misplaced prior to the pour. |
Once the location of the steel was plotted
on the surface Berg was able to continue with core drilling
confident they would not have any hits. The speed and
accuracy of radar impressed Berg and the stated they
will contact GPRS,
Inc with additional work at the Grande Palisades Resort.
An area of this size, approximately
48” square,
can be scanned in 15-20 minutes |
Concrete imaging for the purposes of rebar
and post-tensioning lay out is the primary service performed
by the technicians at GPRS. Chris Moore runs the operations
of the GPRS branch
in Florida. He is based in central Florida and he can
be reached at (727)420-3292 or by email at chris.moore@gp-radar.com.
